“Don’t you dare take our land”
Watch this video message from Adlun Fiqri, an activist from the Indigenous Sawai people of Halmahera, Indonesia, filmed in the limestone caves of the sacred Sagea River.
The Sawai are struggling against many mining companies like Weda Bay Nickel (part owned by French company Eramet) which are now tearing apart their ancestral territories and polluting their river.
Adlun is the coordinator of the #SaveSagea coalition, which campaigns to protect the Sagea River and help secure the territory and livelihoods of the Sawai people
In this video, Adlun also voices his support for the neighbouring Indigenous Hongana Manyawa people in the rainforest, many of whom are uncontacted, and who are also struggling against nickel mining for electric vehicle batteries.

#TribalVoice is a project by Survival International, the global movement for tribal peoples. More than one hundred and fifty million people in over sixty countries live in tribal societies.
From the Amazon to the Kalahari, from the jungles of India to the Congo rainforest, Tribal Voice gives them a platform. They experience appalling racism and genocidal violence. Their lands and resources are stolen for profit. Their ways of life are being deliberately and systematically destroyed.
Here they speak out about what matters to them; watch, listen, and get involved: https://svlint.org/TribalVoice
